A quick and delicious weeknight meal featuring tender chicken in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs or chicken breast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Cooked white rice
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. While the chicken is cooking, mix honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, water, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  4. Once the chicken is cooked through, pour the honey garlic sauce into the skillet.
  5. Stir to coat the chicken evenly and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Allow the sauce to thicken for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Stir in the sesame oil for an extra layer of flavor.
  8. Remove from heat and let it sit for a moment.
  9. Serve over warm cooked rice, garnishing with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, swap chicken for tofu. Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by modifying the amount of honey.
