A protein-packed, healthy alternative to traditional bagels, made easily in the air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cottage cheese (2% or 4%)
  • 1 egg (optional)
  • Toppings: everything seasoning, poppy seeds, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour and baking powder in a medium bowl. Add a pinch of salt if desired.
  2. Create a well in the center and add the cottage cheese. Mix until a chunky dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes until it’s semi-smooth. Add more flour if the dough is sticky.
  4. Divide the dough into four portions, rolling each into a 6-7 inch log. Connect the ends to form bagels.
  5. Whisk the egg with a splash of water or milk. Brush it over the bagels, then sprinkle your preferred toppings on top.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 300°F and spray the basket with cooking spray. Place the bagels in a single layer and cook for 15-17 minutes, or until golden. Check on them at the 10-minute mark.
  7. Let the bagels cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a nuttier flavor, consider using whole wheat flour. Dairy-free cottage cheese is a great vegan option.
