These Air Fryer Protein Bagels are quick, fluffy, and packed with protein, making them a perfect on-the-go breakfast or light snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cottage cheese (2% or 4%)
  • 1 egg (optional)
  • Toppings: everything seasoning, poppy seeds, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. If you’re using salt, stir it in at this stage.
  2. Create a well in the center and add the cottage cheese. Mix everything together using a fork or a rubber spatula until a chunky dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes until it’s semi-smooth.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a log about 6-7 inches long and connect the ends to form a bagel shape.
  5. Whisk the egg with a splash of water or milk in a small bowl. Brush this mixture over each bagel, then sprinkle your favorite toppings on top.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 300°F. Spray or line the basket with cooking spray or parchment paper.
  7. Place the bagels in the air fryer, ensuring they are arranged in a single layer. Air fry for 15-17 minutes, checking at about 10 minutes for doneness.
  8. Once they’ve turned golden and fluffy, remove the bagels and let them cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a healthier version, substitute all-purpose flour with whole wheat or almond flour. To keep leftovers fresh, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
