A comforting baked chicken parmesan with crispy chicken, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella, perfect for any occasion.

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the chicken breasts horizontally to create thinner cutlets.
  3. Set up three shallow dishes: one for flour, another for beaten eggs, and the last for a mix of breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dredge each chicken cutlet in flour, then dip in the egg, and coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Drizzle olive oil onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place the chicken cutlets on it.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes until golden.
  7. Flip the chicken cutlets over, spoon marinara sauce on top, and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake for another 10-15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in Italian seasoning or lemon juice for an hour before dredging.
