Baked Chicken Parmesan

A classic Italian dish featuring crispy chicken breasts coated in breadcrumbs, topped with marinara sauce and gooey mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
  • Olive oil spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well.
  3. Coat each chicken breast thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure it sticks!
  4. Arrange the coated chicken breasts on a parchment-lined baking sheet and give them a light spray of olive oil.
  5. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
  6. Pull the chicken from the oven and top each piece with marinara sauce.
  7. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce and return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is gooey and bubbly.
  8. If desired, garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure chicken breasts are evenly sized for uniform cooking. Adjust seasonings to taste.
