A comforting dish featuring succulent chicken breasts, zesty marinara, and melted cheese, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare your breading station: In one shallow bowl, place the flour; in another, whisk the eggs; in a third, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip it into the egg mixture, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Arrange the breaded chicken on the baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Remove the chicken from the oven, spoon marinara sauce generously over each piece, and sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top.
  7. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in the oven at 350°F until warmed through, or microwave for a minute or two.
