A timeless favorite Chicken Parmesan with crispy chicken, marinara sauce, and melted cheese, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (sliced into 4 cutlets)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil or parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare chicken: Slice the chicken breasts horizontally to create 4 thin cutlets. Lightly pound them to ensure uniform thickness.
  2. Dredging station: Set up a dredging station with three bowls: one with seasoned flour, another with the beaten eggs, and the last with a mixture of breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. Coating: Take each chicken cutlet, coat it in the flour first, then dip it into the egg, and finally cover it with the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Frying: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry each cutlet for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain any excess oil.
  5. Baking: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C), place the fried cutlets in a baking dish, ladle marinara sauce over them, and top with mozzarella.
  6. Final bake: Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with basil or parsley if desired.
