A delightful twist on classic French toast combining sweet and savory flavors with crispy bacon and maple syrup.

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 strips of crispy bacon
  • Butter for cooking
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, bourbon, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt a small amount of butter.
  4. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture for a few moments, allowing it to absorb the flavors.
  5. Place the soaked bread in the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Serve hot, topped with crispy bacon and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

You can use thicker bread like brioche or challah for a more indulgent experience. If desired, substitute bourbon with additional maple syrup or vanilla extract.
