A delightful twist on the beloved breakfast classic, this Brioche French Toast Casserole is a make-ahead dish perfect for brunches and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf brioche bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter (for greasing the pan)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the brioche bread into cubes and arrange them evenly in the baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the brioche cubes, pressing down gently to ensure all bread is soaked.
  5. Cover the dish with foil and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for best results.
  6. Bake covered for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
  7. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Letting the casserole sit overnight enhances the flavors. Use day-old brioche for best results.
