This quick and impressive dish features tender chicken thighs coated in a sweet and savory brown sugar garlic glaze, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water (slurry)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the chicken thighs for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. Lower the heat to medium and sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, ground ginger, and optional red pepper flakes; bring to a simmer.
  5. Return the seared chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over each piece. Simmer for 8-10 minutes until chicken reaches 165°F.
  6. Stir in the cornstarch slurry, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot with glaze.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute chicken thighs with breasts. Pair with rice or quinoa and add steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
