A classic Italian-American dish, Chicken Parmesan features golden-brown chicken coated in Parmesan breadcrumbs, topped with marinara sauce and gooey mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, ensuring both sides are evenly coated.
  3. Beat the eggs in a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese together.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the beaten eggs, letting any excess egg drip off. Then, coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to make sure it sticks well.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry each breaded chicken breast for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
  6. Arrange the fried chicken in a baking dish. Pour marinara sauce over each piece and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken is cooked through.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

For the best results, ensure your oil is hot enough before frying the chicken. You can use gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed.
