A classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy chicken breasts coated in breadcrumbs, topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  3. Coat each chicken breast with olive oil, then dredge them in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring they’re fully covered.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown.
  5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange the cooked chicken on top, followed by marinara sauce and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese over each piece.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

For added crunch, consider adding panko breadcrumbs to the mix. Marinating the chicken in olive oil and Italian herbs can infuse extra flavor.
