A classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy, breaded chicken breasts topped with rich marinara sauce and gooey mozzarella cheese.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season both sides of the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Beat the eggs in a shallow bowl until smooth. In another bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb-Parmesan mix.
  5. Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, fry each chicken breast for 3-4 minutes on each side until beautifully golden brown.
  6. Transfer the fried chicken breasts to a baking dish. Pour marinara sauce over them, followed by a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and the cheese is melty and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken in Italian seasoning before breading. Ensure oil is hot for a perfect golden crust.
