A comforting classic of crispy breaded chicken served with marinara sauce and gooey cheese, perfect for both weeknight dinners and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 teaspoons dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil (for frying)
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Pound the chicken breasts to ensure they cook evenly.
  3. Set up three shallow bowls—one with seasoned flour, one with beaten eggs, and another with a mixture of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, then dip it in the egg, and coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry each breast for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Transfer the fried chicken to a greased baking dish.
  7. Spoon marinara sauce generously over each chicken breast.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese atop the marinara-covered chicken.
  9. Pop the baking dish in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Add fresh basil leaves for a touch of freshness if desired.
  11. Serve and enjoy the deliciousness!

Notes

Ensure that your oil is hot before adding chicken to achieve the perfect crispy texture. Mix in additional spices for extra flavor.
