A timeless classic featuring crispy breaded chicken topped with savory marinara sauce and melted cheese.

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1.5 cups marinara sauce
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pound the chicken breasts until they’re of even thickness.
  2. Set up three separate bowls: in one, season the flour with salt and black pepper; in the second, place the beaten eggs; and in the third, mix the breadcrumbs with some salt and pepper.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast in the seasoned flour, coating it well.
  4. Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly for adherence.
  5. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Add the breaded chicken to the skillet.
  7. Cook each piece for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  8. Transfer the cooked chicken to a baking dish and generously top it with marinara sauce.
  9. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauced chicken.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and melted.

Notes

For the best experience, pair with spaghetti or a refreshing salad. Consider using whole wheat breadcrumbs for a healthier option.
