A classic Italian dish featuring crispy chicken, rich marinara, and gooey cheese, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Beat the egg in a bowl until smooth.
  4. Prepare the coating by mixing breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese in another bowl.
  5. Coat each chicken breast in the egg mixture, then in the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Pan-Fry the chicken in heated olive oil over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer the fried chicken to a baking dish and pour marinara sauce over each breast, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for around 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Serve with fresh basil if desired and enjoy!

Notes

For a low-carb alternative, substitute chicken with zucchini slices. Adjust seasoning based on personal taste preferences.
