Classic Chicken Parmesan

A comforting dish of crispy chicken smothered in marinara sauce and melted cheese, perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Beat the egg in a shallow bowl until well mixed. In another bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. Dip each seasoned chicken breast into the egg, ensuring it’s fully coated, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat a splash of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken breasts for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crisp.
  6. Transfer the fried chicken to a baking dish. Pour marinara sauce over each piece and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake for around 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  8. Serve hot, optionally garnished with fresh basil.

Notes

Make sure your oil is hot enough before frying to avoid soggy breading. Experiment with different cheeses for added flavor.
