A classic comfort food combining tender chicken, earthy mushrooms, and a creamy sour cream sauce, perfect for family dinners or cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, diced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Egg noodles or rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, sauté until translucent and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  3. Toss in sliced mushrooms and continue cooking until tender.
  4. Stir in flour and cook for about a minute to create a roux.
  5. Gradually pour in chicken broth, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  6. Lower heat and mix in sour cream until smooth and creamy.
  7. Add diced cooked chicken, coating it well with the sauce.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over egg noodles or rice.

Notes

For added depth of flavor, add Worcestershire sauce or Dijon mustard. You can freeze leftovers for up to 3 months.
