Crispy, salty, and aromatic chicken wings marinated in soy-sesame flavors and fried to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, five-spice powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper until even.
  2. Add chicken wings to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight for stronger flavor.
  3. Pour vegetable oil into a deep pan to a depth of 1–1.5 inches. Heat over medium-high to a steady 350–375°F (175–190°C).
  4. Remove wings from marinade, letting excess drip off. Pat dry if very wet.
  5. Add wings in batches to the hot oil, frying for 8–10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Transfer cooked wings to paper towels to drain briefly, then sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

Use low-sodium soy sauce for more control over salt levels. For gluten-free options, substitute tamari for soy sauce.
