A delightful dish featuring smoky bacon, rich cheddar cheese, and tangy barbecue sauce atop tender chicken breasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and place it on paper towels to drain.
  3. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces and set aside.
  4. Rub both sides of each chicken breast with olive oil.
  5. Season generously with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. While the chicken cooks, chop the green onions and prepare the barbecue sauce.
  8. Once seared, pour the barbecue sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the chicken breasts.
  9. Crumble the cooked bacon over the cheese.
  10. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Remove from the oven and top with chopped green onions. If you like a little heat, sprinkle with red pepper flakes.
  12. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Consider marinating the chicken in barbecue sauce for a richer flavor. Broil for a minute after baking for a crunchier topping.
