A comforting and indulgent dish featuring seared chicken in a rich, velvety garlic cream sauce, perfect for family dinners or impressing guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 ½ cups chicken broth
  • 1 beef bouillon cube (or 1 teaspoon Better Than Bouillon beef base)
  • 1 teaspoon low sodium soy sauce (or Worcestershire sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10 whole cloves garlic, peeled
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Pound the chicken breasts to an even ½ inch thickness, then season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the flour and Italian seasoning and dredge the chicken in the mixture.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and sear it for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  4. Lower the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet. Add the garlic cloves, cooking for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining flour over the garlic and whisk to combine; cook for about a minute.
  6. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, scraping the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Stir in the bouillon cube and soy sauce until dissolved. Add onion powder, thyme, and mustard powder, simmering until thickened slightly (5-7 minutes).
  8. Return the chicken to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 8-10 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  9. Finally, stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, mixing until melted and the sauce turns creamy. Adjust seasoning as necessary, and serve hot.

Notes

Serve over rice or mashed potatoes for best results. Add red pepper flakes for a bit of heat if desired.
