A classic Italian dish featuring breaded chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and gooey mozzarella cheese, perfect for any occasion.

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season both chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up your breading station: place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and mix breadcrumbs with Parmesan in a third bowl.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip it in the egg, and then coat it in the breadcrumb mixture until well covered.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken breasts for about 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Transfer the fried chicken to a baking dish. Spread marinara sauce over the top, followed by a generous layer of mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.

Notes

For a healthier version, consider air-frying the chicken instead of frying in oil. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the fridge.
