Indulge in juicy chicken breasts wrapped around savory ham and melted cheese, all enveloped in a crispy, golden crust, perfect for impressing guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces Boneless Chicken Breasts
  • 4 slices Ham (Black Forest or Honey ham)
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese (or Provolone or Gruyère)
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour (gluten-free as an alternative)
  • 2 large Eggs (or a plant-based milk mixture for a vegan option)
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs (gluten-free Panko if needed)
  • 3 tablespoons Olive Oil (or Butter)
  • 1 cup Mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt as a lighter option)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard (or yellow mustard)
  • 1 tablespoon Honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice (or vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce (optional)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your frying pan over medium heat with olive oil.
  2. Thinly pound each chicken breast to ensure even cooking.
  3. Lay out the pounded chicken and top with a slice of ham and cheese.
  4. Fold the chicken over to enclose the ham and cheese, pressing edges to seal.
  5. Set up a breading station: one bowl with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Dip each chicken piece in flour, then into eggs, and finally coat in panko.
  7. Fry in hot oil for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through.
  8. Transfer the cooked chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. For the sauce, mix mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

Notes

For an even crispier crust, double-dip the chicken in the egg and panko mixture. Consider using different types of mustard for unique flavor variations.
