A comforting yet gourmet chicken dish featuring crispy breadcrumbs, gooey mozzarella, and rich marinara, all baked to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season both chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Dip each chicken breast in the egg, coating it well.
  4. Roll the coated chicken in breadcrumbs until fully covered.
  5. Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a skillet.
  6. Brown the chicken breasts for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
  7. Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish.
  8. Pour marinara sauce over each chicken breast.
  9. Top with mozzarella and sprinkle Parmesan on top.
  10. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot.

Notes

For a lighter version, swap marinara with your favorite pasta sauce or use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
