Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 (0.25 ounce) packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 24 Tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a small bowl and set it aside.
  2. Activate the yeast by heating the milk until warm, then combining it with melted butter, sugar, and yeast; let it sit for about 10 minutes until bubbly.
  3. Mix in the egg, salt, and vanilla into the yeast mixture, then gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Proof the dough by covering it and letting it sit in the warmed oven for about 10 minutes.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, roll it tightly, and cut into 12 slices.
  7. Bake the rolls at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Make the icing by blending cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth, then spread it over the warm cinnamon rolls.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!
