Quick and flavorful honey garlic chicken that comes together in one pan, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded to even thickness
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 34 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Chopped fresh parsley or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry and pound them to about a 1/2 inch thickness. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add oil, and cook the chicken undisturbed for 4-5 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and sauce: Slide chicken to one side, add minced garlic, sauté until fragrant, then stir in honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and water or broth.
  4. Simmer: Spoon the sauce over the chicken and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  5. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle with parsley or green onions, and serve with extra sauce.

Notes

For variations, try using tofu instead of chicken, or add bell peppers during the simmering phase.
