A delightful Italian dish featuring gooey cheese and savory fillings wrapped in a golden, flaky crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni or any desired filling (e.g., vegetables, meats)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 12×10 inches.
  3. Spread marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
  4. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  5. Arrange the pepperoni or chosen fillings in a single strip down the center.
  6. Dust the filling with Italian seasoning.
  7. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly around the filling into a log shape.
  8. Press the seam to seal it shut, pinching the ends to prevent filling from escaping.
  9. Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Brush the top with olive oil, and apply a beaten egg if using.
  11. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Let rest for 5–10 minutes, then slice into 1-inch pieces and serve warm.

Notes

For a crispier bottom crust, place the stromboli directly on a preheated baking stone.
