A delightful dish for breakfast or lunch, featuring creamy egg and cheese spread over toasted bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (white, whole grain, or sourdough)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup grated cheese (cheddar, gruyere, or your choice)
  • 1 tsp finely chopped fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F or your air fryer to 370°F.
  2. Lightly toast the bread until golden brown using a toaster or broiler.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg lightly. Then add the grated cheese, herbs, salt, pepper, and cayenne if desired.
  4. Evenly spread the egg mixture over each slice of toast.
  5. For oven cooking: Place the toast on a baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown and puffed. For air frying: Cook in the basket for 5–7 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

For an extra creamy texture, experiment with different types of cheese such as cream cheese or ricotta. Don’t skip the herbs as they elevate the flavor significantly.
