A delightful and easy way to elevate your breakfast experience with a comforting aroma of cinnamon and vanilla ready to serve your family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of day-old bread (like brioche or challah)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • Optional toppings: fresh berries, maple syrup, powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk until all ingredients are well blended.
  3. Tear the bread into bite-sized pieces and add them to the mixture. Gently stir to ensure each piece is coated.
  4. Pour the bread mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or for best results, overnight.
  6. Before baking, remove from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the custard appears set.
  8. Serve warm with your choice of toppings.

Notes

Use bread that’s a day or two old for better custard absorption and flavor. Letting it sit overnight enhances the taste.
