Homemade Chicken Parmesan

A comforting and gourmet dish combining crispy breaded chicken, zesty marinara sauce, and gooey melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Generously season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Beat the egg in a bowl until well mixed. In a separate bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the egg, letting any excess drip off, then fully coat the chicken with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the breaded chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom of a baking dish, then place the cooked chicken on top.
  7. Spoon more marinara sauce over each chicken breast, and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

For extra crunch, mix in some Italian herbs with your breadcrumb mixture. Don’t skip seasoning the chicken for great flavor. Ensure oil is hot enough before adding chicken to prevent sogginess.
