Delicious homemade hash browns that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, perfect for breakfast or as a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large potatoes
  • 1 onion (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes. If you’re using onion, grate that as well.
  2. Rinse the grated potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch, then squeeze out any moisture.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the grated potatoes and onion (if you’re using it) to the skillet, spreading them out evenly for even cooking.
  5. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  6. Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes on each side.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For lighter alternatives, use olive oil or avocado oil instead of regular frying oil. Ensure to remove as much moisture as possible for extra crispiness.
