Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large potatoes
  • 1 small onion (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes. If you’re using the onion, grate it as well.
  2. Rinse the grated potatoes under cold water to remove excess starch, then pat them dry using a clean towel.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Spread the grated potatoes and onion (if using) into a single layer in the skillet.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Cook until one side is golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Flip and cook the other side until crispy.
  8. Remove the hash browns from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

To achieve perfect crunch, make sure to dry the grated potatoes thoroughly and avoid overcrowding the skillet.
