A quick and delicious honey garlic chicken that balances sweet honey and savory soy sauce, perfect for a weeknight dinner.

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Optional: Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  3. In another bowl, mix cornstarch with water until smooth.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the chicken thighs. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  5. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Stir in the cornstarch slurry, cooking while stirring until the sauce thickens (about 1-2 minutes).
  7. Serve the chicken with sauce spooned over it, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute chicken with firm tofu. Adjust honey and soy sauce to taste, and consider adding crushed red pepper flakes for heat.
