Instant Pot Honey Garlic Chicken

A quick and flavorful Instant Pot dish featuring tender chicken thighs coated in a sweet honey garlic sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. chicken thighs (4 chicken thighs)
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons water (or chicken broth)
  • 3 dashes cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken thighs generously with salt and black pepper, then set them aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine honey, sugar, soy sauce, and water (or chicken broth). Stir until both honey and sugar are fully dissolved. Set aside.
  3. Turn on the Sauté mode on your Instant Pot. Once heated, add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil.
  4. Sear the chicken thighs in the Instant Pot, skin-side down first, until they are nicely browned on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of oil and the minced garlic. Sauté the garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the chicken. Secure the lid and select Manual mode, setting the pressure to High for 10 minutes.
  7. After cooking, perform a Quick Release and carefully remove the lid once the valve has dropped.
  8. Stir in the chopped parsley and serve immediately, drizzling it with the sauce.

Notes

For a leaner option, substitute chicken thighs with boneless chicken breasts. For a vegan twist, replace honey with agave syrup.
