A quick and easy recipe for grilled Korean chicken breasts with a savory-sweet marinade, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. Take your chicken breasts and place them in a Ziploc bag. Pound them to an even thickness of about ½ inch.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the soy sauce, apple sauce, chopped onion, sesame oil, grated ginger, brown sugar, and crushed garlic.
  3. Reserve ¼ cup of the marinade for serving later. Pour the remaining marinade into the bag with the chicken, seal it up, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Grill each chicken breast for about 2-3 minutes on each side until fully cooked through at 165°F.

Notes

Let the chicken rest for a couple of minutes after grilling before slicing to lock in juices. Can marinate overnight for deeper flavor.
