  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or white wine)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 1–2 lemons)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Generously sprinkle salt and pepper over the chicken breasts.
  2. Sear the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the chicken and sear for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce: In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Deglaze the pan: Pour in the chicken broth (or white wine) and lemon juice, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Allow this mixture to simmer for about 3 minutes.
  5. Add the lemon zest: Stir in the lemon zest, then return the chicken to the pan. Coat it well with the sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to warm it through.
  6. Serve: Plate the chicken hot, garnished with fresh parsley for a burst of color and flavor.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For freezing, wrap the chicken tightly, though texture may change upon thawing.
