Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup ham, diced
  • 1 cup turkey, diced
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Jam for serving (e.g., raspberry or strawberry)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and layer half of them at the bottom of the prepared dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour half of this egg mixture over the bread cubes in the dish.
  5. Next, layer the diced ham, turkey, and shredded Swiss cheese on top.
  6. Add the remaining bread cubes and then pour the rest of the egg mixture evenly over everything.
  7. Gently press down on the bread to help it soak up the liquid.
  8. Cover the dish with foil and bake for about 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and allow it to bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until it’s golden brown on top.
  10. Once baked, dust with powdered sugar and serve with warm jam on the side.
