A quick and budget-friendly Orange Chicken recipe with a sweet and tangy flavor, perfect for weeknight meals or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Cooked white rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken pieces dry. Toss them in cornstarch until completely coated and shake off excess.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Arrange the chicken in a single layer and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and minced ginger until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Pour the sauce into the hot skillet and gently simmer.
  6. Return the chicken to the pan, tossing to coat in the sauce.
  7. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  8. Serve over cooked white rice and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, swap chicken for tofu. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days.
