A comforting and flavorful oven-baked chicken dish topped with marinara sauce and gooey cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Set up your three shallow dishes: one filled with flour, another with beaten eggs, and the last for mixing breadcrumbs with Parmesan cheese.
  3. Coat each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off the excess.
  4. Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, ensuring an even coat.
  5. Roll the chicken in the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
  6. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for about 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish.
  8. Spoon marinara sauce generously over each piece of chicken.
  9. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving hot.
