A delightful breakfast casserole made with buttery croissants, rich eggs, and melty cheese, perfect for lazy weekend mornings or special occasions.

  • 6 large croissants, torn into pieces
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or Swiss)
  • 1 cup cooked sausage or ham, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Layer the torn croissant pieces evenly at the bottom of the dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and optional nutmeg until well combined.
  4. Stir in the cooked sausage or ham, shredded cheese, and sliced green onions until everything is evenly distributed.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the croissants, making sure every piece is well coated.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  7. The next day, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  9. Let it sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
