A delightful dish that combines crispy chicken with layers of savory marinara and melted cheese, perfect for a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 (23 ounce) jar of marinara or tomato sauce
  • 1 (16 ounce) package of spaghetti, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (230°C).
  2. Lightly coat a 9×13 casserole dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Pour 1 cup of marinara sauce into the bottom of the dish.
  4. Place the chicken breasts on top of the sauce, ensuring they’re spaced out evenly.
  5. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken, covering them thoroughly.
  6. Generously sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  8. After 20 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  9. While the chicken is baking, cook the spaghetti according to package directions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  10. Serve the chicken over the pasta, spooning the sauce on top.

Notes

For best results, use fresh mozzarella and pound the chicken to an even thickness before baking. For added crunch, broil for 2-3 minutes after baking.
