A delightful and healthier alternative to traditional desserts, this Healthy Apple Crumble combines tender apples with a crispy oat topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup rolled oats (use gluten-free oats if needed)
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or coconut sugar)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease your baking dish.
  2. Slice the apples into thin pieces. In a bowl, toss them with lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well-coated.
  3. Spread the prepared apples evenly in your baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, flour, remaining cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Pour in the melted butter and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture forms clumps.
  6. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples, ensuring they’re fully covered.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the apples are tender.
  8. Allow the crumble to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. For the best flavors, enjoy it warm!

Notes

Serve with vanilla yogurt or whipped cream for a creamy contrast or drizzle with caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
